Peter Fisk TD, BEng, Dip HS, MInstRE
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Peter established Pelagian Limited in 2002 as a submarine cable consultancy and personnel supply agency. He has seen the company grow into a major player, supplying professional consultancy services and personnel to purchasers, installers, survey companies and others across the whole spectrum of the submarine cable industry, worldwide. More recently, Pelagian has diversified into the oil and gas and renewable energy markets under Peter’s direction.
Peter is a qualified civil engineer and hydrographic surveyor with initial experience gained during a large number of cable route surveys and installation projects around the globe between 1990 and 1994. He then served with the British Army as an officer in the Royal Engineers, gaining considerable military experience in several operational theatres. Since 1998, Peter has worked full-time in the submarine cable industry, managing many cable-related projects including; route engineering, route surveys, route clearance, post lay inspection and burial and rock dumping. One area of specialisation was marine permitting and Peter enjoyed considerable success as Senior Permits Manager for Tyco Telecommunications before starting Pelagian.
As the Managing Director of Pelagian, Peter is responsible for business strategy. He also acts as a Principal Consultant specializing in marine permitting and corporate business development.
Justin Hawkins BSc (Hons)
GENERAL MANAGER
Justin joined Pelagian in 2007 as a submarine cable consultant, and in 2008 became the General Manager.
After graduating from UEL in Surveying and Mapping sciences in 1990. Justin joined Wimpol as a Hydrographic Surveyor and was soon part of the team responsible for the implementation of the Simrad EM12 onboard RV Ocean Surveyor - the world's first commercially available deepwater multibeam survey vessel. He worked on a number of high profile cable surveys including FLAG, TAT10 and various projects in the Caribbean and South America.
In 1996 Justin moved to join SAGE Survey as a Project Manager in the oil/gas and dredging sectors, where work included managing the survey of the Bonny Channel Capital Dredging project in Nigeria, as part of a 10 month campaign of dredging for Shell. At the end of the 1990’s Justin became a freelance hydrographic consultant working for Alcatel Submarine Networks as a Senior Cable Engineer. He specialised in desk top studies, Makai route engineering, cable manufacturing and armour selection and burial assessment studies.
Rupert Ladds BEng (Hons), PGDip (Survey)
PERSONNEL MANAGER
Rupert has been Pelagian's personnel manager since 2007 and has overseen the introduction of a comprehensive personnel database and organises the day to day running of the personnel department. Rupert is the main point of contact for Pelagian's customers seeking skilled contract personnel
Before joining Pelagian, Rupert developed a strong background and significant experience in personnel and operational planning, gained whilst working first in the British Armed Forces and subsequently during over10 years as a project manager on both IT and Construction projects. Throughout his civilian employment career, Rupert has continued to serve as an Officer in the Reserve forces, including mobilisation for service in Iraq and UK. Rupert studied Mechanical Engineering at Plymouth, specialising in offshore construction and fluid mechanics and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Estate Surveying
Ivan Lees
PROJECT MANAGER
After a 13 year career in the Royal Navy specialising in Sonar and Oceanography, Ivan joined the civilian offshore marine industry in 1998 initially specialising in ROV and trencher systems as a Pilot / Technician. Following a move into the contracting market in 2003, Ivan came to Pelagian as contract consultant, undertaking power and telecoms cable work worldwide. His skills, aptitude and experience quickly led to him becoming an employee in 2004, continuing to work around the globe.
As Project Manager for Pelagian, Ivan has managed and delivered a significant number of key projects while either working for the client as an embedded Project manager within a team, or directly as our own contract Project Manager. He is engaged in cable projects UK and worldwide on a regular basis. |
